New directives (rather onerous ones) are being enforced with the HIPAA laws in the US. By defination, email is apparently not confidential unless encrypted, something your email to me will not be. Thus, my receipt of your email implies to me that you are willing to waive any confidentiality provisions of the above HIPAA act. While I have no intention of telling anyone about your email, my response to you should not be considered confidential either. If you wish to pursue any matters in confidentiality, you will need to do so by mail or personal visit.
