I have put this site up primarily to provide physicians and people with an interest in voice problems with information about the voice. Many people ask me questions by email. Sometimes it is to clear up something I have said on the site. These kinds of questions lead me to modify and expand what is available on the site.

However, my understanding from my former malpractice carrier (Northwest Physicians Mutual Insurance Company) is that I am free to solicit business on the internet but that I may not enter into a doctor/patient relationship. Additionally there are some 20 state laws against it and finally, it is only possible for someone who has seen and heard your voice to diagnose your problem. I do enjoy hearing from you and quite often, I would be happy to address your inquiry. Since voice work is all that I do, it seems possible that I will have insights into voice disorders, not necessarily available locally.

This is a new area of law, and in the United States, medical law and licensure is determined state to state. So if you write (and I don’t mind that you do), until our laws catch up with the burgeoning world wide communicativity that the internet allows, my reply may be rather impersonal and nonspecific. Please consider making an appointment. Otherwise, I hope the information on this site is valuable educational material that your physican may use in concert with their own knowledge. Your physican may correspond or call me. I am happy and is legal for me to review any information a physician provides.

If you are an attorney or other person seeking an expert medical opinion about a case, I am happy to hear from you and will forward you the necessary information I will need to reply to you.

I have replied to all emails ever sent (so far), but the response time has been as long as a month (more often as email has grown (2006)) if I am busy with work and family.
