Laryngeal video recordings: Bilateral ParalysisTo the right are vocal cords that will just barely open during breathing because of a nerve injury to both recurrent laryngeal nerves. |

This video contains continuous views of vocal cords, so you will need to understand the anatomy before understanding the film. My target audiences for this film production were otolaryngologists, speech therapists and voice professionals. I try to show in the film, many of the subtle findings of vocal cord paralysis that are easily missed without a thorough exam as well as some ideas on the treatment of bilateral vocal cord paralysis or paresis. This is a 15 minute 30 second lecture I gave at the Voice Foundation 5 June 2005 in Philadelphia, PA at the 34th Annual Symposium. |
