Laryngeal Photos: Mucosal disorders: Capillary ectasias

For information about the character of vocal ectasias see diagnosing benign mucosal disease.

capillary ectasia I believe these capillary ectasias form during the healing process after some vocal cord trauma that ruptures the blood vessels. When they heal, they run a more tortuous route and are larger vessels than previously.
capillary ectasia A capillary ectasia located within a polyp. On the vibratory edge this ectasia is easily ruptured causing hemorrhage into the polyp.
capillary ectasia A capillary ectasia has hemorrhaged within a polyp. The yellow-orange sheen of blood can be seen within the whole right vocal fold. This is a very recent injury.
vocal cord nodules Capillary ectasias and polyp - rather large, from rather aggressive chanting.
