Christmas Traditions

by Sydney

This is our Christmas tradition. It’s fun to cut a tree down by ourselves. We got a big Christmas tree and it didn’t fit in our living room, so we had to cut the top off, just a little bit. Then we put our star on top. We got down the Christmas boxes from the attic. We hung up our ornaments, then we found our stockings and our holders. We decorated our house with Christmas beads, Poinsettias, wreaths and lights outside and on the tree. Our neighbors liked our decorations.

We set up the train, it’s even bigger this year. Mommy does not like It. But we still have it up. For Christmas we got mommy an Amtrak train just like she used to ride from Chicago toward St. Louis. We invited our neighbors up to see it. Our neighbors across the street have the same scale of train, but our layout is much bigger than theirs is. I like the traditions of Christmas, especially the trains, because they are fun to play with and because my daddy started them. My mommy took our trains into school and read “The Polar Express” to show other students about our traditions.

We always bake Christmas cookies, peanut butter balls, mint squares, double chip squares and gingerbread houses. We eat a lot of candy canes, one at the tree farm, one at brownies, many at the stores and restaurants and even the gas station.

We have fires in the fireplace a lot in December. These are our Christmas traditions.
