We still don't know if it is a boy or a girl. In April, the expected delivery date was supposed to be one friday when I was home alone. Then, the usual delivery delays set in. Delivery was scheduled at 10 am, but how can you schedule a birth? Susan didn't know a thing. Noon, 2 o'clock passed. 3 o'clock, Susan would be coming home soon. I could feel the contractions in my stomach. This really will be a surprise. Finally the baby arrived. The obstetrician, arriving in a very non-descript white truck, unloaded the baby.
As we finished tilting the baby onto its legs, Susan, brought home from work by friends, pulls up to the front door. Not expecting a moving truck, her friends want to know from Susan how well we have been getting along. Have there been any recent arguments? Is there any reason Jim would by moving out? But then they get to the front door and there across the living room is a large black piece of furniture - the baby.
